Episodes: The Edge of Mystery & A Little Song and Dance

The first thing I noticed in this episode was the darker tone it took, we really got to see the fall out from last week and the toll its taken on Jarvis.

Peggy and the group come up with a plant to save Wilkes from Frost, by simply trading what she wants so they can get him back. They follow through but after saving Wilkes it turns out he had already made a deal with Frost so he can enter the Zero Matter and hopefully fix himself once and for all. This causes him to have to turn on Peggy after just being saved from her so he can get what Frost needs but he doesn't go through with it and escapes.

Leading into Episode 9 where things get interesting. We see the Zero Matter in person in a much larger form too. As well as a pretty big explosive ending that makes me interested in seeing how everything will be affected in the couple of episodes. I did think that all the musical numbers with a bit weird and out of place but they were entertaining.

The core stand out was definitely the argument and conflict between Peggy and Jarvis. It follow off of the build up from the last episode of his anger building up in him to get revenge. He even goes as far as to try and kill Frost but failing because she still has Zero Matter inside of her. This lead to them both getting captured and having to escape being separated from the group.

They escape but what happens afterward is interesting because this is where we get to see Jarvis come in to realize his current problems. The argument is solved when Jarvis realizes his weaknesses and decides to continue to work with Peggy. Thompson takes this into his own hands, planing on creating a bomb to eliminated everyone involved with this problem. But before he can do that Wilkes shows up in the same room as Frost and Vernon and seems to have exploded in Zero Matter form before the bomb could go off.

These were too really good episodes and I thought anytime the villains were on screen was the best parts of both episodes and most entertaining.

A glimpse at Agent Carters & Ms. Frosts pasts!

This episode was interesting as we had a chance to see a few events of the past of both characters. I found Frost to be the more interesting of the two it is shown that she actually has a brilliant mind that not many know about. Peggy's backstory focuses on how she eventually become involved with Special forces. At the time she has to leave behind her fiance and her old life behind in order to make a life changing decision.

Peggy and Jarvis kidnap Hunt to interrogate him for information. She uses a special formula created by Stark that gives people the common cold very quickly. He tells them everything he knew and they even pretend to let him escape because they know he will return to Chadwick and Frost.

It was a good episode, even better, giving us backstory to these characters that could help make their actions more impact in the story. Its going to be interesting next week now seeing that Frost has control of her powers.

Wilkes is saved from Stark!

I really liked seeing Stark in this episode, it added a bit of fun and random to the plot especially at the men only club. The scene where Peggy plants the bugs in the room was very well done, and it was intense seeing her trying to escape.

I thought that Wilkes after effect from the Zero Matter was interesting. It seemed like it was a power he had but because Stark seemed to have fixed his problem. On the other side, Ms. Frost seems to have lost control of her effects and is too afraid to tell anyone about it in fear what would happen to her.

The whole time I am just thinking...Go to Stark! But I don't even think her character knows about him or even knows who he is. It is going to be interesting seeing how her power will affect her life and the others around her.

Thinking back, this was more of a catch up kind of episode, nothing really new happened just establishing what we already know, but helping out a character while seeing another become more and more absorbed by the Zero Matter.

We focus a lot on Peggy and Wilkes this episode as they go out on a night of adventure. First starting out on a date at a jazz club then to going to Griffith Observatory to look at the effects of Zero matter. to the Matter exploding inside the Isodyne facility.

Wilkes wants to help out Peggy with her investigation, he tells her about Isodyne and their success with the replication of the Manhattan Project which lead to the discovery of the Zero Matter. In order to steal it, they break into Isodyne but are confronted by agents. Wilkes takes the Zero Matter but is confronted by Frost who wants to steal it for herself. In the conflict they both drop the glass that contains the matter and the reactions begins. This leads to an explosion inside of the facility as Peggy makes her way inside to see if Wilkes had got out in time.

The episode ends with Peggy thinking that Wilkes died in the explosion and goes home to process all the events that had happened to her. Meanwhile we see that the Zero matter is effecting someone who was near it and it could lead to trouble in the next coming episode.

I didn't expect to see Wilkes turn sides to quickly, when the last episode exposed that he was apart of the group that had the Zero Matter I thought it would have dragged on much longer than it needed to. It was other nice seeing some popular LA locations like the Observatory and using that to tell the story. Even setting up the romance to Peggy and Wilkes was done very well too. We didn't get much from the villains, but I think they will be having to use a new weapon now that the Zero Matter has essentially destroyed it self.

Agent Carter is back with a season 2 and this time she is traveling to California.

The episode picks up where it ends from season one. She is in a middle of an interrogation when she is suddenly called off the case for now and is sent to California. To help them with supposed backup. She meets up with Jarvis and goes to the new hidden SSR headquarters where she will be working from.

A woman is frozen in a full cube of ice that it recovered from a river and brought in for a autopsy. They get a sample of what froze the woman and they find out that it isn't your typical ice. It can infect other it comes it contact with, but also freezes them until they are hit hard enough to shatter.

I did like this episode was the investigation was interesting for the most part. The new setting can make for a lot of cool landmarks to show during this time period. I just hope they take advantage of that.

The only problem is the amount of reveals that this episode contains. It could be interesting in the future but as of right now, we already know who the villain is and all the people who are involved. No real surprise could actually happen in the future now because of these reveal.

The first episode is good and I have a feeling this will get better as the season progresses but right now we are only left with mystery.

Marvel is looking to expand their already 'massive universe' they created by prepping a new collection of content for cable and VOD services. Deadline is reporting that Marvel is creating several new shows based on their properties to take play on possibly Netflix as on massive 60-episode package. The content will be made up of four series, with 13 episodes each and on mini series with less episodes. This is definite a lot of content that Marvel is releasing with an already built-in audience.

As of right now, Marvel has not said anything on the story right now, and in terms of what new properties the shows will be about is a mystery as well. The already rumored Agent Carter spin off could be one of these series, but right now anything can be possible. One thing for sure, Marvel is definitely ahead of its competitors in film and now already in television with their release of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I am curious to see what new properties that are in the works for Marvels. I hope they could also find a way to start incorporating the new characters into the movies as well.

What do you guys think?

According to Deadline, the short film featured on the Iron Man 3 may spawn into a TV series. The last short film featured on The Avengers lead to the start of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel is very secretive about their upcoming projects, but it definitely looks like there are trying to establish enough TV shows to continue alongside the Marvel films. The project is in its very early stages, on of several projects in the works. It is also still unclear if Atwell will reprise her role as Agent Carter. A Marvel action series with a female lead would fight right into ABC's schedules taking a throwback to the series Alias. The Iron Man 3 Blu-ray releases next Tuesday, the same day Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuts.
