Disney is making its way to being a studio that only puts out quality animated movies! Not just in the visuals but in the content as well!

Its not everyday where a movie is both entertaining and has something important to say. Focusing more in the storytelling than on how many jokes they can fit into one scene whether it be in the background or from the main characters.

Judy Hopps and Nick Wildem, the two main characters, are great together and they really carry the film, taking you through this world that is much more grounded than the visuals would make you think. This isn't just a movies for kids, its very much also for also for adults! Tackling issues from races to drug addictions, something you wouldn't expect to work in a movie like this but it does! 

Zootopia was a big surprise for me and completely snuck under my radar this year! I am glad to see animated movies not just be made for really young audiences but actually be smart and cleaver to tell a great story and also be very entertaining.

It has been a while since the last Pixar sequel, now we are getting a sequel to one of Pixar's best films. This time focusing on the side character of Dory!

The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish reunites with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.

Finding Dory Releases June 17, 2016!

I have been a fan of the LEGO franchise from the great games and even a great animated movie that came out a couple of years ago. The LEGO Star Wars games were also a nice addition because you were actually able to play through the entire saga in LEGO form. When Disney purchased Star Wars we all knew that at some point, they had plans to market Star Wars ten fold than what was previous. I have a feeling that the announcement of this knew TV Show will be the start of the saturation that I was worried about. I just keep asking myself "Was anyone asking for this??".

The show will air on Disney XD this summer and will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (because, canon.). It will focus on new characters and villains and follow them as they take on the Empire and try to restore peace to the galaxy... All in LEGO form.

I am sure the show will be entertaining because, Star Wars, but I can't help but feel that this is really unnecessary in the overall story. There have been LEGO Star Wars shows in the past but what never bothered me about those is the fact that they were just spinoffs. This time everything that happens in this show will affect the movies, comics, other TV Shows, and the story much more than before. 

The question as of right now is, Will anyone be watching this show when it airs? I know for me I will check it out to give it a chance, but I can't say that I am looking forward to it. But who knows, Rebels has gotten good in its Second season so maybe this one can be good too.

MOVIES EVERY YEAR

Having one Star Wars film a year sounds like a dream come true and something that fans would never have thought would ever live to see the day. Now that Disney owns Star Wars the Marvel formula has been put upon the franchise in a sense that we will be getting at least one Star Wars movie a year, with the possibility of more in the future. There is a lot to explore in the large universe that has been created and the best thing this franchise needs is expansion.

EVERYTHING IS CANON

This can go either way for you while those who really enjoyed the old EU, which is now called Legends, they were officially labeled as no longer being canon to the Star Wars universe. While they never were officially canon to begin with, it was a nice way for you to connect them with the movies. Now under the new canon there have already been a few book, comics, and even upcoming things in the works that will be heading our way in the future. There are probably a large group of fans who aren't bothered by this change nor care about anything that isn't the movies. I've seen good points made that no one should tell anyone what is canon or not canon and that the stories should be enjoyed anyway, which is a good way to look at things. 

Even though a lot of those old stories are not longer connected with the movies doesn't change the fact that they are good stories and that also doesn't change them not showing up in the movies or the new canon at all.  My worry is that one day this canon will start to contradict each other or even add things that shouldn't be added to the stories. Primarily towards the movies and adding events in between those movies that end up not being mention in the films at all. 

OVER SATURATION 

Probably the biggest concern for most fans out there, Saturation is the point where people start to get tired of  something or are never given a break for anticipation to build. This is something that has only just recent begun to hit superhero movies and we've haven't even hit the point at its most saturated. Back to what I was saying before with there being Star Wars films every year, this is something that will greatly contribute to this and even with canon. It is all about how creative and how many risks they take going forward. Playing it safe will only get you so far before you have to try something new and change up the formula. If they do this with Star Wars, I can see it lasting for a long time.

Pixar is planing more movies and Toy Story is one of them. There is a leaked photo going around and even trending on twitter of Pixar's all upcoming movies that will be releasing over the coming years. Most of them are expected and some we already knew was announced.

But what surprised me the most was that all of the movies they are making are sequels with only possible one or two original movies. I understand that most people just want to see the same thing with the same characters, but what I always used to like about Pixar was how they would always find something new to today.

Even this year they came back with Inside Out which felt more mature and is one of the best movies ever released by them. So seeing them return to making sequels again does worry me.

Today it was confirmed that Disney has now acquired the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount.  Just last year Disney had bought the rights to the star wars franchise and quickly followed with the announcement of a new trilogy.  So far there hasn't been any news of a possible new installment, but I will definitely expect something announced before the end of the year.

The LA times are saying that Disney has moved the next Pixar film, The Good Dinosaur, to arrive in November 25, 2015. The original date the film was slated for was May 30, 2014. The reason reported on why they have pushed back the release so far is due to the departure of the film's director, Bob Peterson. Other people who have worked on Pixar films in the past have now taken over the project. 

Pixar will now be releasing two movies in the already very crowded 2015, with Inside out arriving on June 19, 2015,  and then The Good Dinosaur following in November. Due to the push of this movie date, Disney has also pushed the release date of Finding Dory to June 17, 2016. Another release day that had changes as well is Disney's Maleficent 3D moving from July 2 to now May 30, 2014, taking the spot that the Pixar film originally had.  

It will be weird not to had a Pixar film for one year, but maybe they can make use of the extra time to make a film very worthy to the Pixar name like in the past. Other animation studio must be happy to not have to compete with a Pixar film for summer or for the academy.

Its been two weeks since Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement and his latest and final film The Wind Rises is making its way to an American release.  

The film has been following its premiere  at the Venice Film Festival and The upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, Walt Disney Studios has revealed their multi-plan release for the film. After the release in November for the Academy Awards recognition the film will return to theaters in February 21, 2014 in a limited release than expanding into more theaters after February 28th. It is still likely that the film will be re dubbed just as previous Miyazaki American releases, but as of right now there is no word on who will be playing the characters in the English dub. 

"In “The Wind Rises,” Jiro—inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni—dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes. Nearsighted from a young age and thus unable to become a pilot, Jiro joins the aircraft division of a major Japanese engineering company in 1927. His genius is soon recognized, and he grows to become one of the world’s most accomplished airplane designers. The film chronicles much of his life, and depicts key historical events that deeply affected the course of Jiro’s life, including the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan’s plunge into war. He meets and falls in love with Nahoko, and grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo. A tremendous innovator, Jiro leads the aviation world into the future. Miyazaki pays tribute to engineer Jiro Horikoshi and author Tatsuo Hori in his creation of the fictional character Jiro—the center of the epic tale of love, perseverance, and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world."

The Wind Rises is out in Japan right now and will release is Taiwan on September 28th.
