Thoughts on the first Doctor Strange Trailer! - Doctor Strange Trailer #1 Review

The Doctor Strange trailer is finally here!

It is the time that we start getting some of the less popular characters from Marvel, more importantly, something that is a bit different from the typical style Marvel has been doing for their movies.

I really like the tone this trailer has! It has some horrors elements at some points and then it feels like inception is others! We also very much got the sense of what the movie will be about showing that this will be an origin story once again. I got Batman Begins vibes from it, show his life as a doctor and how he had to go into hiding to find some secret that we don't know about yet. That is when he goes to find some master, which reminds me of the Matrix who teaches him about chakras and things beyond science. The more I think about it that more I realize that this movie is really combining a lot of different movies, but what is different here is that it looks pretty good!

What did you think of the trailer? Especially the tone and the origin they are telling.

Agent Carter Season 2 Episode 8 & 9 TV Review

Episodes: The Edge of Mystery & A Little Song and Dance

The first thing I noticed in this episode was the darker tone it took, we really got to see the fall out from last week and the toll its taken on Jarvis.

Peggy and the group come up with a plant to save Wilkes from Frost, by simply trading what she wants so they can get him back. They follow through but after saving Wilkes it turns out he had already made a deal with Frost so he can enter the Zero Matter and hopefully fix himself once and for all. This causes him to have to turn on Peggy after just being saved from her so he can get what Frost needs but he doesn't go through with it and escapes.

Leading into Episode 9 where things get interesting. We see the Zero Matter in person in a much larger form too. As well as a pretty big explosive ending that makes me interested in seeing how everything will be affected in the couple of episodes. I did think that all the musical numbers with a bit weird and out of place but they were entertaining.

The core stand out was definitely the argument and conflict between Peggy and Jarvis. It follow off of the build up from the last episode of his anger building up in him to get revenge. He even goes as far as to try and kill Frost but failing because she still has Zero Matter inside of her. This lead to them both getting captured and having to escape being separated from the group.

They escape but what happens afterward is interesting because this is where we get to see Jarvis come in to realize his current problems. The argument is solved when Jarvis realizes his weaknesses and decides to continue to work with Peggy. Thompson takes this into his own hands, planing on creating a bomb to eliminated everyone involved with this problem. But before he can do that Wilkes shows up in the same room as Frost and Vernon and seems to have exploded in Zero Matter form before the bomb could go off.

These were too really good episodes and I thought anytime the villains were on screen was the best parts of both episodes and most entertaining.

Deadpool (2016) Movie Review

Plot: A former Special Forces operative turned mercenary is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopting the alter ego Deadpool.

I never thought I would have seen the day where Deadpool actually makes a return in the form the character was meant to be portrayed. Even weirder to think that this movie only happened because of old concept art for the movie back in the day that got leaked out to the public.We've also seen Deadpool before in Wolverine: Origins which was always remembered as "The movie that ruined Deadpool". Now that time has past and we finally have the movie we've all been waiting for this character to get.

So many films today focus so much on the action set pieces (especially the blockbusters) that it is refreshing seeing a comic book movie with an actual good script that is both cleaver and funny! This movie is very self aware of itself and with the time we live in. From pop culture to the state of films today, with that being an overboard amount of comic book movies that are only getting larger is number per year.

As a whole package, this is a very excellent made movie. From great acting, great action, great editing, the list could go on. All this coming from a first time director in a movie with a much smaller budget than the competition of today's movies. There is a charm about movies being smart with how they use special effects especially CGI and this one did a great job at handling that. Doing set pieces in camera will always feel more impressive than creating it in a green screen environment. Could if have used a bigger budget for better effects? of course, but its about how well you present the movie that determines the believably of the effect on screen.

Now if there was anything that I can see people either having a problem with or would wish this could be changed is the rating. Its a mixed bag, because that character itself fits the R rating, but I always say you can editing things down to make it watchable to everyone. Even going to so far as to say less is more, when it comes to comedic moments and violent intensive scenes. I suppose it really is up to you, but the question is, would the movie have been better if it was PG-13? a good question to ask after you see the movie for yourself.

It is nice to see a film that is just really good and entertaining. Even more important, a movie actually portraying a character just as he is represented in the comics! Its a fun time and you won't have any problem paying full price if you know what you are getting into.

Agent Carter Season 2 Episode 3 Better Angels TV Review

Wilkes is saved from Stark!

I really liked seeing Stark in this episode, it added a bit of fun and random to the plot especially at the men only club. The scene where Peggy plants the bugs in the room was very well done, and it was intense seeing her trying to escape.

I thought that Wilkes after effect from the Zero Matter was interesting. It seemed like it was a power he had but because Stark seemed to have fixed his problem. On the other side, Ms. Frost seems to have lost control of her effects and is too afraid to tell anyone about it in fear what would happen to her.

The whole time I am just thinking...Go to Stark! But I don't even think her character knows about him or even knows who he is. It is going to be interesting seeing how her power will affect her life and the others around her.

Thinking back, this was more of a catch up kind of episode, nothing really new happened just establishing what we already know, but helping out a character while seeing another become more and more absorbed by the Zero Matter.

Agent Carter Season 2 Episode 1 The Lady in the Lake TV Review

Agent Carter is back with a season 2 and this time she is traveling to California.

The episode picks up where it ends from season one. She is in a middle of an interrogation when she is suddenly called off the case for now and is sent to California. To help them with supposed backup. She meets up with Jarvis and goes to the new hidden SSR headquarters where she will be working from.

A woman is frozen in a full cube of ice that it recovered from a river and brought in for a autopsy. They get a sample of what froze the woman and they find out that it isn't your typical ice. It can infect other it comes it contact with, but also freezes them until they are hit hard enough to shatter.

I did like this episode was the investigation was interesting for the most part. The new setting can make for a lot of cool landmarks to show during this time period. I just hope they take advantage of that.

The only problem is the amount of reveals that this episode contains. It could be interesting in the future but as of right now, we already know who the villain is and all the people who are involved. No real surprise could actually happen in the future now because of these reveal.

The first episode is good and I have a feeling this will get better as the season progresses but right now we are only left with mystery.

3 TV Shows I Am Checking Out This January

January is now the time for new shows to premiere as well as new seasons of show to return. There are many coming out this year, and while I can't watch and keep up with all of them, these are the ones that have my interest and will definitely watch the premiere of. This winter particularly have 3 shows of the new age of Sci-Fi superheros genres. With one new show, one nostalgia show making a comeback, and a returning show that I have caught my interest after it left.

Legends of Tomorrow

I haven't completely caught up with Arrow and The Flash, but with this being the third show to be connected to this universe that has been created, I think it is time to check this out.

I don't know much about the show, which will be good as to not have much opinion on the show prior to its release. It has familiar characters that have showed up in The Flash, and while I don't think it will be the backstory of them, It will hopefully expand this television universe created by those shows.

The show is premiering on January 21 on The CW and will most likely be checking it out.

X-Files Miniseries

X-Files is back! Unfortunately only through a miniseries, this is one of those 90s shows that was great back in the day. It aired for nine seasons, from 1993-2002 and even had two theatrical films released from the show.

The miniseries will reunite special FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully who have for the most part moved on after the X-Files but have to return to solve a new mystery. I always liked the way it approached the mysteries as well as having a over arcing plot through out the series. I am curious if this will do the same or will just focus on one plot in this miniseries.

There will only be 12 episodes in this miniseries, so get ready because it releases on January 24.

Agent Carter Season 2

I only watched about one episode of Agent Carter season one and due to just not having enough time to watch the rest of the show. This season will seas Peggy Carter travel to Los Angeles to deal with the threat of the new atomic age and will follow her as she faces new enemies and adjusts to her new life style. It will also include much more episodes compared to the first season and will hopefully be just as good and will really take advantage of the time period the show takes place in.

From what rumors are saying, this new season will have small tie-ins into the upcoming Marvel film, Doctor Strange. How this will be included is unknown, but it will be interesting to see what specifically is connected.

The new seasons airs on January 16 on ABC.

Peter Parker’s Cameo Already Been Filmed For 'Captain America Civil War'

Captain America: Civil Wars has been filming for some time now and it was only bound for news to come out of Spider Man/Peter Parkers involvement in the movie.

The recent casting of Peter Parker only means they have had a chance to put him in Civil War before he gets his own stand alone film in 2017.

During a interview with the writers of the upcoming Spiderman, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstien revealed some information about our first appearance of the new Peter Parker.

“Daley and Goldstein will have to contend with special effects of a different sort over the next few months, as they’ve been drafted to write Marvel’s new Spider-Man reboot. That’s still in the early stages, as Goldstein says they’re going in to Marvel this weekend to look at footage of Tom Holland’s cameo as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War. “We hear good things,” he said. “We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting.” Forget any rumored cast lists that have been floating around the web, however: “We’ve discussed certain characters,” said Daley, “but nothing is certain yet, for sure.”

Based on that information there we know that will being see the brand new suit that Spider Man will have for the new film as well as a pretty significant role without the mask on.

I just hope his role will make sense in the movie and won't feel forced in, especially sense they had already started working on this movie before the deal was announced and before they had even casts someone for the role of Peter Parker.

Daredevil (2015) Season 1 Review

Daredevil is the first to what I think will be many to come, Marvel TV shows to be put onto Netflix. That is not a bad thing though, because Daredevil is the best show to come out of the cinematic universe Marvel has created. There are a lot of good things about this first season from the action, the character and the fact that is on Neflix which is a much better format to regular network television.

The action in Daredevil is some of the best I've seen for television and is even able to stand against feature films.What I like is how is doesn't over do it either, every fight scene feels nature and furthers the story along nicely. As for the choreography, its more grounded and downplayed but that just makes it more believable and realistic. It is nice to see something that not so flashy and overdone or is shot with shaky cam.

All characters in the show are memorable and all have something important to the plot. It never feels like a character was wasted and handles the handful of characters well. Personally I do appreciate that the show didn't add a big name actor or someone from the Marvel movies. Because the majority of the cast was unknown to me, it made it easier for me to really see every as character and have them stand on their own.

Now what I also like was how everyone ended up having some sort of arc through out the season. Not one personal is static which is nice to see. Also because this is a introduction to a new superhero, they end up handling the origin story of the character very well. Instead of spending the entire first episode or full episode in general telling the origin, they spread it out throughout the season telling the part of the story that can follow through in the present.

Like I said before this is the first Netflix show by Marvel and unlike the shows that appear on network TV this is already finished by the release of the show. There was 13 episode, and they make of the most out of them by giving everyone more character and depth. I personally would've like it to be only around the 8 - 10 mark, but I can't complain that much for getting more episodes.

Overall, Daredevil is easily the best thing that Marvel has put out, both in movies and television. It the best thing about it is that it stands on its own, and makes enough references for you to know that this is connected to the larger cinematic universe. This is what expands it and makes everything feel a lot larger. This is the best Superhero television show to be released in this new generation of superhero stories and if you haven't checked it out, you should.
