Is Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Too Crowded?
Batman v Superman isn't that far away and while I am looking forward to this movie. I still am very much cautious about it. I am really intrigued with the idea of both Batman and Superman being in a movie together I can't help but be worried that might actually be pushed aside to make room for other characters. It is not hard to notice that this movie is packed!! Of course it is a matter of how these characters are presented and introduced that will determine their relevance in the movie but I can't help but be worried that this won't be handled well.
DC wants to catch up to Marvel and as fast as possible! They are going to get as much as they can in hear to make sure the audience is excited for any future movie they make. But because they also have a justice league film to make as a sequel that pushed even more pressure on this film to make sure that all characters involved with the movie won't be a stranger. This worked with Avengers because they had a good 4 - 5 years of build up and solo films for each character so when the big movie came most of the job was done in terms of having each character developed.
It is very clear that DC is doing the opposite here, trying to start with the big movie and then proceed to give their backstories and solo adventures. It really is the only way they can do what they want out of this universe but does come with its costs. One question that I keep asking is that of, what if no one likes a particular character? whether it be wrong casting or just lack of interest? You got to remember that this is the same DC that made the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern that had a "SECRET TEASER ENDING" for a possible sequel. We all know how that worked out, but imagine if that film was made post Batman V Superman? Would we be stuck because the character was already established in two or three other movies?
It is interesting how one thing in a cinematic universe doesn't just go away, because now it affects the entire universe as a whole! Batman V Superman is going to be the start of this and it will set the bar at which all these DC films will be perceived. There are a ton of characters in this movie and if they are all executed well, that will greatly affect how they go on in the future. Will DC catch up to Marvel? We will have to wait and see.
So here it is, the list of characters (that I currently know of) that will appear in Batman V Superman, whether it be an actually appearance, backstory, or just in mention.
Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Lex Luther
Cyborg
The Flash
Aquaman
Alfred Pennyworth
Lois Lane
Doomsday
Darkseid
Robin
The Joker
Nightwing (possibly)
Barbara Gordon (directors cut)
So is the movie too crowded? or Will it be handled well enough to kickstart this cinematic universe in the right direction?

Silly article, half of these are either cameos or easter eggs (Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg cameos, Darkseid and Joker easter eggs). The main cast is standard ensemble size. 2 leads(Batman, Superman), a villain(Lex), and 3 supporting character(WW, Alfred, Lois). Doomsday isn't even a character, he's just a boss fight. X:Men 1 had more characters than that and it was 20 minutes shorter. How many people came out of it going 'that movie was too crowded'? Plus this has an Oscar winning writer behind it.
ReplyDeleteThis article is just another click-bait attempt to jump on the hate trend for DC movies. Without even seeing the film this article makes a lot of wild claims. Crap journalism.
