Recently was able to see the latest Spongebob movie, I haven't been a fan of the show for a while now, mostly due to how much the show had changed over the years and just didn't have the charm that the older seasons had. So of course I wasn't excited or interested to see this movies especially by how they promoted it, making it feel like the modern movies on how everything needs to be CGI and relate to more recent movies. Than I heard that a few of the people that had worked on the series when it first started returned to makes this movies and that caught by curiosity just a bit.

The plot and the story is most likely the least interesting part of the movie but that really isn't the focus. What stands out is the funny bits they do through out the movie and surprisingly enough some of the character progression they go through. The situations the characters get into get more and more crazier as the movie goes one and that is something I haven't seen a while from kids movies.

Which is another thing, this didn't feel like a watered down version of Spongebob that the show has become. Even thinking back to the first movie, that even felt watered down and wasn't really funny at all. I was glad to see how funny this movie was and how it had that adult humor that was in the older episodes of the show. Many people complained about how the movies doesn't focus all its movie time living up to the title. I personally didn't mind it and actually liked how most of the movie kept the same animation from the show. It felt nice changing up the environment that I had always been used to.

Sponge Out of Water feels like a return to the old style of Spongebob that I cam to like and if all the sequels are like this I'll definitely look forward to them. The one thing I would like to see in the future is putting them in different animation styles like this movie in a bit more.
