Naruto The Movie 2: Legend Of The Stone Of Gelel (2005) Movie Review
TV-14 | 97 min
Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy
Writer & Director: Hirotsugu Kawasaki
Plot: Naruto, Shikamaru and Sakura are on a mission to deliver a lost pet to a village when a mysterious knight appear to confront them.
This is the second movie from the Naruto series and out of all the movies I've seen this one tends to be one of the weakest. Maybe its because I have seen just about all the other Naruto movies, but this one just felt very by the numbers to me. It doesn't do much of anything to try anything new. Not to say its a bad movie, just doesn't feel like the majority of the other movies.
I did like however, how they added a new element that is just as powerful to possibly destroy the world. Making their mission seem much more important than other films. Also the animation is slightly different in this movie giving the characters a more simpler design which I really like and it helps when ever there is fighting or big action scenes.
The one downside is the villain, who I think was probably the most forgettable villain in a Naruto movie. He pretends to be the good guy until the very end when he reveals himself for who he really is. We do mostly focus on Naruto by himself as the team get split up pretty early in the movie. He does have a rival in this movie, who kinds feels like a replacement Sasuke, but just doesn't have the same feeling as him.
Overall, this is another Naruto movie. It is worth watching once if you are a fan of the show or are watching the show and want to watch the movies in canon with the shows story line.
