Not only directing the 'Venom' movie, Alex Kurtzman is in talks to be directing the reboot installment of 'The Mummy'. The movie is set to be released on May 22nd, 2016.

It was announced a while back that the studio is going to be developing a cinematic universe but with their own monsters and I'm assuming that it will start with 'The Mummy' reboot. He is producing with Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel on developing the feature. Kurtzmann doesn't have many films on is directing list, with is directorial debut just recently.

Jeff Kirschenbaum, co-producer of production for Universal commented on the choice with the following:  
“Over the course of developing The Mummy, Alex has demonstrated such clarity and passion about this character and mythology, He knows why The Mummy has fascinated us for so long and how to bring that into an inventive, incredible new adventure. It became obvious that he is the perfect choice to be not only one of the narrative engineers of this new vision but its director as well.”

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's Minions had been pushed from its original date, December 19, 2014 to the very crowded July 10, 2015 summer. The Untitled Project from Illumination that was originally supposed to be released on that date had moved to February 12, 2016. Both films will be released in 3D as well. The movies voice cast will have Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm in the leads and the movie will center around the iconic characters that were introduced in the 2010 film.
