Alex Kurtzman to Direct 'The Mummy' Reboot!

Not only directing the 'Venom' movie, Alex Kurtzman is in talks to be directing the reboot installment of 'The Mummy'. The movie is set to be released on May 22nd, 2016.

It was announced a while back that the studio is going to be developing a cinematic universe but with their own monsters and I'm assuming that it will start with 'The Mummy' reboot. He is producing with Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel on developing the feature. Kurtzmann doesn't have many films on is directing list, with is directorial debut just recently.

Jeff Kirschenbaum, co-producer of production for Universal commented on the choice with the following:  
“Over the course of developing The Mummy, Alex has demonstrated such clarity and passion about this character and mythology, He knows why The Mummy has fascinated us for so long and how to bring that into an inventive, incredible new adventure. It became obvious that he is the perfect choice to be not only one of the narrative engineers of this new vision but its director as well.”
