There has be a lot of movies released over the time of my hiatus or should I say that I've seen quite of a bit of movies. More and more I try to avoid any movie that I feel will be generic or just another cinematic universe building film because I just don't care about those anymore. Not to say that I am staying away from superhero films because superhero films aren't the only ones trying to stay in the cinematic universe building game.

Recently I have just watched Logan for the first time and I while I really enjoyed it I can't help but feel like it was a end of an era. That same feeling of having to move on. Modern movies have certainly lost their edge compared to what they used to and that not to say that they have become worse. That statement just isn't true as there will always be bad movies but the good ones will continued to be remember and often looked at when movies are released that year. No what I am talking about is the "playing it safe" factor that I see in so many modern movies.

I mention Logan because it reminded me of why I like when movies take chances and try something new even at the cost of a marketable film. After watching X-Men: Apocalypse last year I said to myself "its time to end the X-Men movies" After watching Logan, I said the same thing, but the meaning was completely opposite to prior statement. The prior, a sense that this franchise and others like it have plateaued and no longer had anything new to offer. The former, a satisfying conclusion to a long running story that now has come full circle. Nothing else it needed to tell after its already been done.

Now I know there will continue to be X-Men movies. Even as I am typing this the studio is probably announced a whole slate of movies planned to 2030. But that doesn't necessarily mean I have to watch them or even considered them a continuation. Now I days I find myself deciding when and where a movie series should end even though more sequels are released to follow.

Naruto is a long running franchise that I have kept up with for close to 13 years now. But, similar to X-Men, the series has ended. Well not exactly. The story contributed by the original creator has ended. But the "story" goes on in the form of the "Next Generation" by the studios that know Naruto makes money. I know I don't have to watch it and I don't plan to, as for me the story has ended.

Which makes me think about the future of movies, of course we will still get great stand alone films but more and more are we getting movies that are made by a chart that says what the average person does and doesn't want to see in a movie with an end result of mediocrity. Where as just a few years ago I was going to the theaters as much as I could to see every movie was that released to today where I see maybe one or two movies actually in theaters.

Naruto "Ultimate Ninja Blazing" has been trademarked by Bandai Namco Europe. Back in September, Namco trademarked various Naruto titles from Narutimate Wars, Narutimate Blazing and a few others. In English all be the titles for Ultimate Ninja.

At first glance you might think it would be a new Naruto game or DLC but after more information a has come out. It is starting to look like it will be a new game that will hit mobile devices. I am not against the idea of a mobile Naruto game, but that does make me worry what kind of game it will be. In a day where most mobile games are free to play with tons of micro-transaction, that limit the experience of the game by removing features and gameplay elements in order to make more money. I am not saying they are doing this, but I worry that its always the possibility.

The trademark listing has a description that points to a mobile game:

"Downloadable computer programs for mobile phones; computer programs; computer game programs; downloadable computer programs and additional data for computer games; computer programs and its additional data, all for consumer video game machines [downloadable]; electronic circuits, CD-ROMs or other memory media, all recorded with programs for hand-held game machines with liquid crystal displays; computer programs and its additional data, for hand-held game machines with liquid crystal displays [downloadable]; downloadable music or sound files through Internet or mobile phone communication; downloadable image or movie files through Internet or mobile phone communication; downloadable electronic publications.

Providing images or movies through Internet or mobile phone communication; providing movies through the Internet; providing sound or music through Internet or mobile phone communication; providing games through Internet or mobile phone communication."

Namco has already released mobile games for Dragon Ball Z that has already seen millions of downloads and has been successful on both Android and IOS phones. So when will Ultimate Ninja Blazing come out? Well I would assume pretty soon, if it is being trademarked specially at this point.

Naruto Ninja Storm 4 is coming to the consoles in just a couple of weeks. Tons of new gameplay footage has been released on Youtube and while I am excited for the game there is one key thought that keeps coming up whenever I see something new from this game. I mean, there are plenty of cool things to see already. From the new characters, to the large battles, to even the canon stories plot points. Speaking of the canon plot points… WHY AM I HAVING TO PLAY THE SPINOFF VIDEO GAME JUST TO SEE THE ENDING ANIMATED AND VOICE ACTED?!?

So now that you know why you’re here, lets talk about why we are probably never going to see Naruto Shippuden ever reach the ending of the show.

Filler, Fillers, and More Fillers!!!

We are getting both Itachi and Kaguya fillers this year with little to no room for the Canon episode to show up. Last year in 2015 there were only a total of 8 canon episode of Shippuden in the entire year. I only have a feeling that this will occur again this year.

An announcement for an Itachi filler came to a surprise to people, mostly because everyone thought it was going to be a spin off separate series from the anime. It is still unclear but from what it is sounding like its going to be just a filler in the anime. Was this a mishandled misstep? We will have to see.

If you have caught up to the show at this point you would know that the anime is still in the infinite tsukuyomi filler arc that has been the main focus of the show since September. I can only hope that there won't be more fillers in 2017, but knowing how this studio has handled the series, there could easily be more filler.

We Will Have Moved On…

A lot can happen in a year, and the more time move on, we move on. By the time we get back to the finale of the show we will have moved on to something else. Whether it be a new popular anime, or just from forgetful memory. Most people I have seen mention the Naruto anime always respond with a "Oh that is still going on? I thought the manga ended like 2 years ago."

We are already getting a brand new Boruto manga that will continue the story of the Naruto world, most fans will have put their focus on this new story with these new characters because the old ones has moved on. Their stories are over for most people and the story of Naruto is over for many others.

Since the end of the manga we have had two movies that have taken place post the manga and have moved the characters we all know along to a much mature state, where they have passed the torch to the next generation in the latest Boruto: Naruto the movie.

Gotta Milk It Till It Got No More Left

It is very clear that Studio Perriot is planing to milk Naruto for as long as they can still sell anything from the brand. Even at the cost of delay the shows end in order to extend its life, they will keep it going and never end it. Naruto is one of the most popular anime and manga franchises in the world, it makes sense for them to do so much with it. But there comes a point where you need to follow the source material to keep the fans happy.

Its fine if the anime ended and then they decided to do spin offs and side stories and other filler like material to extend the life. At that point it will have kept the main original series alone and undamaged from poor quality. Unfortunately we are at this point where the video game adaptation of the Naruto story is finishing off everything I have wanted to see from the end of the anime in video game form.

At least there is that...

So will we see the end of the Naruto anime? Yeah we will. You might have to wait a year and a half from this point to actually see it, but you will get it. All that I and fans can hope for is that they deliver the best Naruto quality that we've ever seen, something that can make current fans, non fans, and fans who have moved on from the show a reason to come back to the anime. Some of the biggest fights from the manga are upcoming and doing them justice is a must on the studio's part.
