Why Watch The Despecialized Edition!

The Force Awakens is only a week away and the majority of Star Wars fans will most likely be re-watching all the original trilogy films. If you are one of those people I highly recommend you checking out the Despecialized Editions.

They are essentially the original trilogy on Blu-ray with all the films being cleaned up and even graded better than the official Blu-ray releases that came out a couple of years ago. With the original theatrical cuts of the films not being officially released since VHS, many people have grown up not even seeing the original films the way they were meant to be seen.

The Despecialized Editions are a way for fans and newcomers to watch these great films untouched and in fantastic quality.

NO CHANGES!

The changes in the Special Editions are definitely the worst aspects of the modern releases of Star Wars. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if they included the original editions along with the new releases like many other films do whenever they are updated or changed.

I'm sure you know about some of the big changes in the Blu-ray editions from the Darth Vader "Noooo" scene to the change of the Ewok song at the end of Return of the Jedi. Even all the added CGI characters throughout the films walking in the background and even sometimes in the front of the camera...

You could look at one positive that the new editions added. That would be the updated effects. Mostly to the exterior of some of the X-Wings and a lot of the space battles. They don't add anything to the film unfortunately and I would even say they actually take away from the charm that the original effects of the films had. Especially for how good and groundbreaking they were at the time.

BETTER TRANSFER THAN THE NORMAL BLU-RAYS

Now for those who haven't seen the video about the making of the Despecialed Edition, a person that goes by Harmy along with others essential Frankensteined it. They took different sources from the film, whether it be from old prints of the film on 35mm or the old VHS, DVD & Blu-ray copies of the trilogy.

Combining the sources into one film would make you think it would look horrendous! But luckily they don't and actually look better than any other release out there. They color graded the films to look more natural and true to what the films were intended to look like and even transfer ed the films over to HD to ensure the quality would be appropriate for modern viewing. Compared to the officially released Blu-ray editions that's were released a couple of years ago they are a night and day improvement. Even looking a lot crisper and vibrant than the Blu-rays.

REMINDS YOU WHY YOU LOVE STAR WARS

Now the one thing that people will say whenever they even mention Star Wars is how it impacts their childhood and how much it means to them. The Despecialed Editions remind you why you fell in love with Star Wars in the first place. From the grand epic feel, to the ground breaking special effects, the memorable characters in the background and foreground.

If you are like me you are probably already re-watching the original trilogy or the whole saga before The Force Awakens is released. Why not check out the best versions of the films available before watching the start of the new trilogy.
