Insurgent is the first of what I'm sure to be many more sequels in the Divergent series.
Most of the movie feels like a build up for its next sequels films to come. At the same time feeling just like the first movie. There are a lot of good actors in the movie, but the characters themselves aren't much more developed at all. Shailene Woodley is good in the movie and is anything, the one thing that keeps the movie watchable at times.
Its very repetitive and boring at time even with all the action in the film. But there really isn't much more that this movie has to offer.
This just kinda blends in with all the other movies based on books that take play in some sort of post-apocalyptic future. That kinda puts this series back especially with Hunger Games leading this genre.
The film is not bad, but I personally am not looking forward to what this series leads to. That could just be me, but for those who haven't seen the previous movie and haven't read the books, its a skip. But if you have seen the previous film and are interested in this one, its better to wait to rent it.
