The Guest (2014) Movie Review
Genre: Action | Mystery | Thriller

Plot: A soldier introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
Going into The Guest, all I had really known about the film was that it had some similarities to the movie Drive which is a good thing because Drive was one of my favorite movies, the year it had come out. I think the lack of knowledge I knew about this film helped me enjoy a lot more because of all the surprises and unexpected turns and feeling I had during and after this movie.
The movie starts out as what you think is just a person doing to one of his friends family to tell them about him, and while he stays there mysterious things begin to happen all over the town, some good and some bad.
One of the best things about the movie is its soundtrack, its has a lot of 80's style Electronic music and gives a nice tone the fights perfectly in some scenes. I think what makes this movie so tense through out is the performance of The Guest, Dan Stevens, the character has so much mystery to him that is actually works and you don't know what he will do or how he will act next.
The one thing I would warn about anyone who sees this, is that the logic in the world of this movie slowly goes out the window as the movie progress. If you can get past it or recongnize where its coming from you will be able to enjoy it just fine.
This was a big surprise to me and it does a great job at taking a lot of elements from 80s and 90s thriller movies. Not to mention many references from those movies as well, if you are able to catch them.
