The X-Files (miniseries) Episode 1 My Struggle TV Review

The X-Files is back!

Both Mulder and Scully have moved on with their lives, though they really haven't moved on from the X-files. Specifically Mulder, who still is on the search for what these aliens are and who has been involved with covering up this conspiracy.

Mulder and Scully are brought back into the mix by a news anchor, Tad O'Malley, who has been on many leads to the government cover up. In the beginning of the episode, we are introduced to a crash site of a UFO that is being investigated by the government. They see a dying alien, that is quickly shot down by the soldiers. The main scientist that was brought out there collects the alien to study it.

They meet a woman named Sveta who claims to have been abducted multiple times. She even remember Mulder interviewing her when she was younger. Scully conducts blood test her Sveta and herself because she remember she has been abducted in the past. Mulder begins to doubt everything he investigated and his beliefs in the aliens, not thinking that there is a global conspiracy force behind all of this. Before they know it, Sveta comes out and tells the news that everything O'Malley has been saying is a lie and she quickly disapears before Mulder can get to her. Soon after O'Mally's news cast is shutdown and no longer online.

I couldn't help but notice how this new series slowly beings to erase all the importance that all the other 9 seasons have built up. Making all the events and investigations they went through were all just government related and what they were actually investigating wasn't extra terrestrial.

I noticed that because we have modern CGI that most things that would have been hidden in the original series is now shown clearly in the miniseries. It wasn't bad CGI for a TV Show, but a lot of the mystery is kinda gone when we are shown so much. I kept thinking of Fringe which used a lot of cool practical effect when ever a new creature was show. This isn't doing the same thing, but I would like to see a bit more of a mix.

This was a decent start, there is enough there to get me interested in this miniseries but I worry that it won't be able to keep my interest for very long unless they try to do something different. We will see.
