Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Review

First impressions of the trailer... I wasn't really crazy about it.

The more I think about the trailer the more problems I have with it. This is essentially one of the biggest films of all time with an event that everyone has always wanted to see. To see how this film will most likely be handled is disappointing to see.

LEX LUTHER

This was a character that everyone seemed to be worried about and while I wasn't as worried as other people this was the biggest surprise and disappoint in the trailer.

In the older Superman movies, Lex Luther was always portrayed on the goofier side which fit the tone of those films. Here with the dark gritty serious tone of the film, its just feels completely out of play and even took me out of the trailer. Even in the trailer his introduction is awkward, I don't know if that was what they were going for or not but it just didn't feel well. Especially knowing that this character is supposed to be the big villain opposite to Superman.

DOOMSDAY

Now when this guy showed up the first thought I had was Abomination from The Incredible Hulk movie. They look very similar and the CGI on this character looks dated which reminds me of that movie more. This is another villain that is supposed to be a great importance to the Superman story and here it just feels like a tacked on Villain just for them to fight for the last 10-15 minutes of the movie.  Not much to say other than I guess we will have to wait and see how it is played out in the film.

THE PLOT?!?

This trailer really exposed the main plot of the film. Normally that's is fine for a trailer because we want to knew what the movie will be about to entice us to watch it. But here we get the main plot and more all the way down to plot point by plot point.

The first teaser trailer did a good job at showning us the ideas the film will bring. Like the idea that people will no be split on whether Superman will be a good thing for the world or not. Leading to us hearing the kid of influence that Lex Luther can have on people and even Superman. We also of course had a glimpse at the fight between Batman and Superman, which should've been the only big battle in this film.

Here we get to see essentially the result of the fight between them and the fight the happens immediately afterward. The trailer even ends with Wonder Woman showing up out of the blue with no real context other than...Justice League!
