Itachi's Story - Light and Darkness: Birth and Death TV Review (Naruto Shippuden Episode 451)

I am surprised that this studio has been able to get away with going this long without a single canon episode. Well today that change! We return back to Naruto to finish the story and see it till the end.... I mean... We returned to Naruto to get back to the canon briefly and go back to fill- I mean, (canon backstory)..

This filler arc will focus all on Itachi and his backstory based off of a novel written a while ago. But instead of being smart and making this a separate show so people can get excited and interested, they drop it into the Naruto Shippuden anime...

We see a battle between the leaf village and sand village while Itachi watches the battle from afar. When the battle if over he makes his way through the battle fields and helps out a soldier who is killed instantly when he realizes that he was a ninja. His father tells him about how war is the real Shinobi world and that begins to form the way he thinks.

We follow Iatchi's life as he trains and even finds out that he is going to have a younger brother. He shows some generic bullies how good he is at shurikens and we get a little hint at a mysterious character that I'm sure will show up.

I think if we had more time to just focus on Iatchi's story they could've easily squeezed in more events. Getting back to the canon for a good chunk of the episode just so they can make it connect with this story isn't helping the fact that Naruto Shippuden has been dragged on longer than it should've been! I would've much preferred that these fillers be a separate show while the main show put on hiatus. That being said, I think that this Itachi story could have potential if they have a clear goal and focus for what they want the story to be.

The Last: Naruto the Movie to have US DVD Release in October

Ever since the announcement of the latest Naruto Movie being released I have been wondering when it will have a release over here is the USA.

I did hear the news that it was getting a summer release in Japan and I only new that it couldn't be that far off.

Viz Media confirmed that the DVD of The Last: Naruto the Movie will be releasing October 6, 2015. Which is only a few months after the Japan release.

It will include both dubs of the film for those like me who enjoy the English dub of the film. Not much is known for special features or extras that will be included but it would be nice to see some behind the scenes over the film and what is next for this franchise.

I can't wait for the release of this and I am already curious about Boruto: Naruto the Movie getting an American theater release just like The Last.

Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie (2012) Movie Review

Plot: Naruto and Sakura are captured in a parallel world by Madara, who's intentions are to steal the jinchuuriki from Naruto.

This is the sixth Naruto Shippuden movie and so far, the one movie that could actually count as canon to the main story. I think this is mostly due to the creator of the show, Masashi Kishimoto's involvement in this movie.

The movie starts off as most of the character we are familiar with are on a mission, but this time they notice that their enemies are Akaski members who they have already defeated in the past. The enemies disappear mid-fight and they report it back to the Hokage of the village.

Soon afterward while Naruto and Sakura are together, Madara shows up and puts a jutsu on them transporting them into a alternate world. They soon discover that in this world, everything is either opposite or altered enough where all the character we know are different along with Naruto parents being alive.

To my surprise, this was Sakura's movie just as much as Naruto's movie. We get to see they both grow as characters, individually and their connection to each other. Because this world is opposite, Naruto's parents are alive and Sakura's are not. This give both of them a chance to experience what the other persons lives are like in their own world.

They enjoy it at first, but soon they begins to discover what is missing in this world.

Meanwhile, Madara uses a mysterious enemy to attack the village. So Naruto and Sakura go after him to defeat him and find a way to get back to their own world.

Overall, I ended up really enjoying Road to Ninja. Its not a perfect movie and has flaws mostly in the plot and motivation of the villains but the first half was enjoyable seeing the main characters different and also see character development out of Naruto and Sakura. The elements this movie does right is what I would like to see done in the TV show as well.

Naruto Shippuden The Movie: Blood Prison (2011) Movie Review

Plot: Naruto's battle to reclaim his honor begins! Naruto is convicted of a serious crime he didn't commit and is sent to the inescapable prison, Hozuki Castle. The warden, Mui, quickly seals away Naruto's chakra to prevent him from rebelling. Refusing to give up, Naruto plans his escape while also befriending his fellow inmates Ryuzetsu and Maroi. But he can't help but wonder what their ulterior motives are...

In Blood Prison, the movie starts as the Fourth Raikage is attacked by a person impersonating Naruto and is connected to other attacks from other villages that all point to Naruto being responsible. So as a result The Hokage and most of Naruto's comrades decides to send Naruto to a Prison where Ninjas who have betrayed their own villages go.

Naruto is sent there and even though he knows he is innocent. No one believes him and he tries his best to escape as many times as he can. As a result he is sent to confinement quite a few times and you actually see the character put in a much different situation than you normally see him in. He ends up teaming with a women who is out for vengence agaisnt the warden of the prison.

Naruto tries to find a way to escape while at the same time helping this women and trying to find out who is the person who is setting him help.

Though the overall premise doesn't really make sense this actually ends up being one of the more entertaining movies out of all the Naruto Shippuden releases. Even though the movie is filled with things that just don't make sense logically but if you can look past them or even ignore them, you can enjoy this movie.

Naruto Shippuden The Movie: The Will of Fire (2009) Movie Review

Plot: Ninjas with bloodline limits begin disappearing in all the countries and blame points toward the fire nation. By Tsunade's order, Kakashi is sacrificed to prevent an all out war. Naruto fights through friends and foes to prevent his death.

The third Naruto Shippuden Movie primary focuses on our main characters and Kakashi. Similar to the Last movie Bonds, the village and the other countries are about to go to war due to a secret villain that threatens the land.

To prevent this war from happening Kakashi plans to sacrifice himself in order to save everyone. Even the Hokage goes along with his plan and accepts it. So when Kakashi uncontrollably leaves the village no one tries to stop him except for Naruto. But when Naruto finds out from the Hokage that Kakashi willingly accepted this plan, he and Sakura go alone to try and rescue him,

Of course they are reprocussions for going alone and disobeying the Hokage's order, so all their other comrades must go and stop them from trying to rescue Kakashi. The set up is definitly a different direction then we have seen from other movies and even the TV show. We get to see most of the character on the opposite side of Naruto and Sakura and seeing them battle and trying to get away from them while trying to rescue Kakashi does make it pretty tense.

The Main villain does have henchmen that try to stop Naruto and Sakura from reaching Kakashi, but most of them ending have to fight the ones after Naruto and Sakura. The main villain themselves aren't all that interesting nor in the movie all that much. The movies focus is primarily on the main Team 7 and the overall message of the movie.

The Will of Fire is much better than its previous movie, and because it has its focus on Team 7 and the other main character from the show, it does end up feeling more personal and more enjoyable.

Naruto Shippuden The Movie: Bonds (2008) Movie Review

Plot: A mysterious group of ninja called the Sora-nin from the Sky Country makes a surprise attack on Konoha. This is because Konoha nearly destroyed the Sky Country during the last Shinobi World War, yet they survived and now they're after Konoha and the Fire Country for revenge.

This is the second movie in the Naruto Shippuden series, and while I liked the first one I was hoping the second one would be on par with the last movie. Its not, for the most part at least. While its not as good, and in a sense feels like a step down in quality its does for the most part work out to be a pretty good movie.

The movie starts as Konoha is attack by a mysterious country from the sky and the Leaf Village is fighting them off. Meanwhile in the chaos of the village Naruto save a man from the reckage and is helped by a docter Shinnō. We later find out that the doctor could by the reason why the village is being attacked. So the fifth Hokage Tsunade assigns Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata to help protect the Docter and his apprentice Amaru get to their village to help stop this attack.

Meanwhile we have a side plot following Sasuke, at the time of the story, Orochimaru is sick and is in need of docter, at that docter happens to be Shinnō who Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata are helping to protect. Its not as important as the main story and could of easily be taken out of the movie. It feels like its only put in here so fans can have Sasuke in a Naruto movie.

The plot of the story is straight forward until about the half way point where it does kinda take a spin where we find out who the actual villain of the movie is, but after that it goes back to be a straightforward action movie. The fight scenes aren't anything that special and later we do get a sorta team up with both Naruto and Sasuke and its nice to see but it only somthing meant the movie and means nothing else.

Overall I feel like this movie is just a filler movie, it has moments that feel like the stakes should be high but it ends up not being all that serious. Adding Sasuke to the movie felt like something they only did to please the fans, and he really doesn't serve much of a purpose nor is he in the movie all that much at all. I do recommend this movie but I wouldn't put this at the top of the list of Naruto movies to see.

Naruto Shippuden The Movie (2007) Movie Review

Plot: This time Naruto's mission is to guard Shion, but she predicts Naruto's death. The only way to escape it, is to get away from Shion, which would leave her unguarded, then the demon, whose only goal is to kill Shion will do so, thus meaning the end of the world. Naruto decides to challenge this "prediction of death."

I am currently rewatching the series of Naruto Shippuden and though I've seen parts of the movie back when it was on Toonami. I decided to watch the movies based on how close they are with the main series chronologically. The movies themselves are not officially canon with the story except for the upcoming movie that will take place after the main story. But they do fit into little gaps between the seasons, in a way that can you can find little excuses to make it fit within the show.

Now what I like about this first movie in the second series is that it does feel like a collection of episode put together, its a simple story with a simple mission and has cool fight scenes.

This movie follows Team 7 but this time its Neji leading the team with Rock Lee along side him as a replacement. Their mission is simple, they have to take this girl, named Shion, from point A to point B safely. But the main villain of the film wants to kill Shion because she is the only one who can stop him.

what makes her special though, is that she can see into the future when someone close to her will die. Right away when she meets Naruto that is the first thing she tells him. So for the majority of the movie we do not know whether or not they will be able to change the future. On the way to Point B the team encounter about 3 enemies who are sent by the main villain to capture Shion.

This leads to the best part of the movie, the fight scenes, particularly Rock Lee's. In these fights we see some the best fighting than we've gotten from the show in a while. From the animation and the extent of power they show its makes this movie worth watching alone. But this is expected from the much larger budget they had for this movie. The other fights scenes are decent but forgettable.

If your a fan the show and haven't seen this movies yet, you definitely should. Its one of the better Naruto Movies that can stand alone from the show and be just as good as the show is.
