Steve Jobs (2015) Movie Review

R  |  122 min

Genre: Biography, Drama

Directed: Danny Boyle

Writer: Aaron Sorkin

Stars: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, & Jeff Daniels

Plot: Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.

Taking place backstage at three events where Steve Jobs unveils a new Apple product, some have success, some become failures but we get to see the consequences of these products. To my surprise this isn't so much a biography on the person, but more of a stage drama retelling just a small part of his events. This is a movie you can easily see being done in a play or something like it.

One thing I can really appreciate from this movie is the use of style through out the. This movie shoots each time period of the film differently. The first time period was shot on 16mm film and the middle in 35mm  and the last time being shot on digital. Giving each section of the film its own unique look and feel to it.

This is by far the best written movie to come out this year! When a movie is entertaining just by the dialogue alone that is something to say. The dialogue is fast and quick and very witty, almost every character that speaks to someone, someone else retorts that. Normally fast dialogue can't make you lose focus or speed up too fast for the audience to keep up, here we are standing writing next to the dialogue so we always know what is going on and what is being talked about.

The acting is great, especially from Fassbender who really does a good job at holding this movie all together. He is the vocal point of most of the film and all the crazy events happen around him. His interaction with Kat Winslet, playing Joanna Hoffman is some of the best interactions in the movie. Her performance is great as well, being the person who essentially keep Jobs in control in these stressful situations.

Steve Jobs is a very well done movie and one of the best written of the year. Its faced paced for a two hour movie and there is always something interesting going on to keep your attention. The way this movies ends, you just want to see a part two to see what happens next. It is one of the best movies to come out of 2015 and is definitely worth seeing.
