Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.
The Mission Impossible franchise has been getting better and better as well as more interesting, always finding a new approach to things while still staying true to what it is. I think the majority have agreed that Ghost Protocol was a new step in the right direction and what ever was coming next after it was going to have to be on the same level as that movie. What I do like is how every movie in the series has had a new director with a different approach and a different style in tone to them.
Now Rogue Nation is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and feels like a return to the original movies style and have a mix of all the other films in there as well.
The movie follows Ethan Hunt once again as this time he is trying to prove that this anti IMF organization exists and gets the help of past team members from previous films to help him.
There are plenty of twist and turns that this movie takes and to the point that you can tell it is trying to return to the style of the first Mission Impossible film. But the real stand out of this movie is the stunts and set pieces. There are quite a few and its great to know that there are all done pretty much practically which is really refreshing to see in a summer blockbuster.
The only problem I do have with the movie is that it doesn't follow up on the previous films new approach in the sense that is was about the entire team. The team is still here but they are always split up from each other, giving some of the other member much less to do in the actually movie. Its not the worst thing but I did really like how in the last movie everyone always had something to do and it made it more tense during the situations.
Rogue Nation is one of the best films in the Mission Impossible movies and this series is getting better and more interesting with each new installment. I already can't wait to see where they go next with the next film and what crazy stunts they can come up with.
