Anime I'm Watching #2 (June 2015)

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GiG

Currently watching Season 2 of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Just based on first impressions, I significantly enjoy season 2 compared to season 1. Not to say that its better just yet, but its getting pretty close.

The main plot  does remind me a bit of Psycho-Pass, mostly due to the main antagonist. In the previous season there wasn't much of a face to put on the antagonist until the end of the season. This one we know exactly who is causing the trouble and we get a bit of back story on how he becomes who he is.

I really like how much they are focusing on characters, especially a lot of the minor character who barely get screen time in the first season. It nice to get back story on them to add depth and meaning to them, making their presence in this season matter much more.

They do not forget the main character who we enjoy seeing the most. We get episodes that dive into the back story of Major as well as some new interactions. Seeing them in different situations helps give depth to the characters, getting to see how they act when they aren't in a team.

I'm really enjoying the show and can't wait to see how it ends.
