Rehash, Theories, & Rey's Parents - Thoughts on Star Wars: The Force Awakens One Month Later...

Now that I have already seen the movie once before, I am able to enjoy the movie much more than the first time. I no longer am able to just watch the movie instead of trying my best to pay attention. I can notice all the things going on in the background and pay more attention to the effect and the film making.

Rehash, Reboot, Ripoff

There is still a lot of noticeable aspects that are obviously taken from A New Hope. After watching again, I was able to notice everything that is new rather than what was old.

J.J. Abrams came out and said that what was important to him was the new characters, and that they were present in a way that will make the future trilogy work. Now that I have more context as to why the film takes so much influence from A New Hope I am able to accept what happens than to keep being bothered by it.

Yeah a lot is the same, but "Its like poetry, it rhymes.". Doesn't change the fact that the film got a lot of stuff right and was very entertaining throughout the entire runtime.

Theories

Snoke is Plaguis - 50/50
Snoke is Darth Vader - No
Snoke is The Emperor - Maybe, but that is really reaching...
Snoke is Ben Solo from the future - This isn't Star Trek.
Snoke is The Inquisitor - I hope not.
Snoke is a new character - Most Likely

And the latest theory...

Snoke is Tarkin - Because Why Not...

Lots of theories and speculation of who this character might be. From comparing the songs from The Force Awakens and Revenge of the Sith. To just analyzing the look of this character and comparing it with older characters in the franchise.

What I will say about this issue is that I hope that the fans don't influence what the actual writers and creators want to do with the story. I always feel like the writer show have the creative freedom to tell the story the way they want to tell it. We have seen time and time again when studios interfere with a film and how it almost always goes wrong and in the end the film either isn't good or a complete mess.

If the fans get their way, there becomes a problem with the story. Yes, it will be pleasing for fans, but it will become predictable, no surprise. For the average audience, they don't keep up with all the book and spin-offs and all other things related Star Wars than the fans do. The Star Wars films have always been made with the mainstream audience in mind, that is why they succeed so well financially.

Rey's Parents

Similar to the last topic, many people have been theorizing who the parents of Rey are. The most popular being that she is Luke's daughter because the films make an obvious hint to make you feel that way. But the only problem is, they didn't confirm it.

Watching the film a few more times there are a lot of things I noticed, particularly during the flashback scenes with the lightsaber and the visions.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's granddaughter!...

As well as Luke Skywalkers daughter!

I didn't even notice at first, but after paying attention to the voices during that seen, we hear a number of voices from Yoda, Darth Vader, to Luke from previous films, but most predominant and last voice to speak is Obi-Wan Kenobi.

What separates his lines versus the others who speak is that his were not just flashbacks. His lines were talking directly to Rey.

Just a side thought, Kylo Ren idolizes his grandfather, Darth Vader. What if we get the opposite of Rey, where she begins to look up to her grandfather, Obi-Wan Kanobi. It would make sense in the context of Star Wars because everything ends up being connected in some way and presented in a poetic sense.

These are just my thoughts of topics that have been popular as more and more people have seen the film now. Not one answer can be concluded until Episode 8 or 9 comes out, assuming the writers and directors decide to answer these questions and theories that fans have come up with.

Episode 8 is only 1 year and 4 months away, and I can't wait to hear more information and a bit of speculation on what the film could be about.
